What a city!
It doesn’t take very long to understand the planning and organization that has gone into building this city. It feels as though its entirety was planned and built in one day. Although the severe fines and legal consequences for those who step out of line can’t be ignored, one can’t help admire how seamlessly everything works.
The subway system, the extra fast escalators, the taxi hailing system (only done from specific stands, and most people don’t even hail cabs, they plan ahead and call them in advance….very few cabs driving around looking for clients), the ‘Bixi’ system that allows bikes to be parked and picked up anywhere (no stands, just an app to unlock the wheels) – we seemed to remark at their extreme planning and efficiency at every turn
We didn’t have much time, but we did get a chance to go up to the observatory at the top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, walk the Gardens by the Bay and see their light show at night, visit the Zoo and eat at a couple of their food markets (their efficient and regulated take on street food).
Here’s what our time looked like….
MARINA BAY SANDS
GARDENS BY THE BAY – beautiful botanical gardens by day and night
FOOD MARKETS – fresh sugar cane lemon juice, yum!
We had such a nice time visiting this city/country, now off to Bali!
